Welcome! Hang 10 Volleyball is a player-run organization that specializes in Reverse Coed Grass Volleyball Tournaments played in beautiful Carrboro, NC at the Hank Anderson Park. At Hang 10, we understand what players want because we are also players playing in our tournaments! Our goal is to have the best run and best paying grass volleyball tournaments in North Carolina. In fact, since inception we have given out over $90,000 in cash and prizes.

At Hang 10, we strive to address the biggest complaints of players: sandbagging, poorly run tournaments, little to no thought in seeding/pool distribution, small payouts, limited play, low-end (and at times unsafe) equipment and tournaments that generally only benefit the organizers whether monetarily and/or with cushy seeds/pools. We believe you will find that we have addressed all of these complaints and that we provide tournaments that are fair, fun, competitive, and very well-paying. We invite you to come and find out for yourself!

The Hang 10 Volleyball team consists of: Matt Lenora, Meredith Earl, Blaine Ott, Brian Smith, Lindsay Smith, Erik Myers, Shannon Parks, Dan Brown, Amber Dixon and Heath Rice. If you have any questions or would like to discuss how we run our tournaments, feel free to email us hang10volleyball@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you on the courts in 2023!

Hang 10 Volleyball was formed by Matt Lenora and Axel Kusber in 2011 to initially provide local area players with another format to satisfy volleyball enthusiasts. The primary format was indoors 4s Reverse Coed.

Since then, the grass outdoor volleyball scene has slowly withered away. Matt joined forces with Erik Lars Myers and his brewery, Mystery Brewing Company to start running outdoor Reverse Coed 2s grass tournaments in the spring and summer of 2016. Mystery Brewing was also the official title sponsor of the inaugural summer slate for Hang 10. In 2017, Archer Graphics came on as an additional sponsor, and Hang 10 continued to expand relationships with volleyball vendors, including Volley America as well expand its team to 9 members. Hang 10 also ran its first 2-day tournament in 2017: RevCo Days. RevCo Days included RevCo 2s on Saturday and RevCo 4s on Sunday played on a big court. RevCo Days was an overwhelming hit and Hang 10 brought it back an annual tournament in the summer of 2018. Finally, 2017 brought about the wildly popular let service rule (just do not ask Blaine about it). This will be utilized in all of our tournaments (other than 4s) moving forward.

In 2018, we experienced tremendous growth with most tournaments being at full capacity. We also ran our first costume-themed tournament in 2018: Hang 10 Volleyball's Field of Haunted Horrors, which was extremely popular and will become a fixture moving forward. 2018 also brought tremendous sadness as Mystery Brewing Company made the difficult decision to close its doors. We are very fortunate that Erik will continue as part of our team.

2019 continued to be even more fruitful as we hosted our largest tournaments ever and most of our tournaments had over 100 players in each of them. We have been so fortunate to be supported by amazing sponsors and players. To us, 2019 is the year we are most proud of as we watched our volleyball community come together to support our team member in her battle against cancer. Through the generosity of so many, we were able to raise $8,000!!!

In 2020, we had a global pandemic (not sure if you heard about that). Rather than put the lives of so many at risk, we made the decision to put Hang 10 on hold for 2020. We are stoked to get back at it beginning in 2021.

Hang 10 continues to be about bringing the best tournaments to the local players. Hang 10 offers efficiently run and great paying tournaments. All are welcome at Hang 10 tournaments and Hang 10 does its best to cater to all levels and skills, including actively monitoring local results to accurately seed tournaments and prevent sandbagging. Hang 10 looks forward to building upon its past successes to continue to grow the game and provide the Triangle area with the best grass volleyball tournaments in North Carolina!
